Situated and the entrance to the Queen Elizabeth II Field, the gate was sighted and blessed in 2014 to mark the outbreak of the first World War. The gate was produced by Austin Walmsley of Garstang and a ceramic plaque to commemorate the occasion was produced by Adrian Cross at Pilling Pottery and is located at the base of the gate.
Catterall in Bloom has created a Peace Garden at the side of the Memorial Garden, where a commemorative bench honours a Catterall couple.
